About PaycheckScope

Helping professionals understand their real take-home pay. Launched in 2026.

Our Mission

PaycheckScope provides free, accurate salary and tax calculators for all 50 U.S. states. We believe everyone deserves to understand exactly how much they'll take home before accepting a job offer, negotiating a raise, or planning a move to another state.

Financial decisions are too important to rely on rough guesses. Our tools translate gross salary offers into realistic net pay using current tax tables, so you can budget, compare offers, and negotiate with confidence.

What We Offer

  • Salary after-tax calculators with federal, state, and FICA breakdowns for every U.S. state
  • Hourly, overtime, and salary conversion tools for workers paid in different formats
  • Job offer comparison and cost-of-living analysis for relocation decisions
  • Programmatic salary guides for popular amounts (e.g. $50K, $75K, $100K) in each state
  • Expert articles and FAQs on taxes, payroll, negotiation, and career planning
  • Bilingual support in English and Spanish across calculators and educational content

Who We Help

PaycheckScope is built for anyone who earns a paycheck in the United States:

  • Job seekers comparing offers in different states or cities
  • Hourly and salaried employees planning budgets or overtime income
  • Remote workers evaluating tax impact when moving
  • HR professionals and recruiters explaining net pay to candidates
  • Immigrants and bilingual workers navigating U.S. payroll for the first time

How Our Calculators Work

Each calculator applies the current tax year's federal brackets, standard deductions, and filing-status rules. State income tax rates come from official state revenue sources. FICA uses published Social Security wage bases and Medicare rates.

Results show estimated withholding—not exact employer payroll figures. Actual paychecks may differ based on your W-4, pre-tax benefits, local city taxes, and employer-specific settings. We label estimates clearly and encourage verification with your pay stub or HR department.

Data Sources & Updates

We update tax data at least annually when new tax years begin, and when significant mid-year law changes affect withholding. Sources include the IRS, state departments of revenue, and Social Security Administration publications.

Cost-of-living indexes use established regional price data to compare purchasing power between metros and states. Article content is reviewed for accuracy and revised when tax rules change materially.

Editorial Standards

Our articles and FAQs are written to educate, not to sell financial products. We explain tax concepts in plain language, cite reasonable assumptions, and link to official resources where helpful. PaycheckScope is not a substitute for personalized advice from a CPA, enrolled agent, or financial planner.

Accuracy & Transparency

We are committed to transparent methodology. Calculator assumptions—filing status, tax year, standard vs. itemized deductions—are documented on each tool. If you spot an error or outdated rate, please contact us so we can investigate and correct it promptly.

Editorial Independence & Advertising

PaycheckScope may display ads (including Google AdSense) to fund hosting and tax-table updates. Advertising does not change our formulas or editorial recommendations. We do not sell calculator placements in exchange for biased results. See the privacy policy for ad cookies and opt-out choices.
